Queen of South V Falkirk at Palmerston Park - Match Preview

Doonhamers without Young

Queen of the South will be without Derek Young after a toe operation as they look to bounce back from their William Hill Scottish Cup exit at the hands of St Mirren in midweek by seeing off visitors Falkirk.

The Doonhamers will give injured strikers Michael Paton and Gavin Reilly until the last minute to prove their fitness as manager Jim McIntyre looks for more of a cutting edge from his men.

McIntyre explained: "I was disappointed in midweek because we never played with the conviction that we should. We are a better team that we showed in Paisley but we have to have more of a belief about us."

Falkirk who have climbed up into third place recently have a fully-fit and suspension-free squad available for their contest at Palmerston Park.

The Bairns technical director Alex Smith said: "The addition of the experience of David McCracken and Mark Millar a few weeks ago has brought dividends for us on the park. They have lifted the game of the young players around them and we are getting better results.

"We will need them to play well again against Queen's as there was very little between the sides in the meeting at our place. A repeat of our 2-1 win would be fantastic."
