League leaders Falkirk fell short of their league form in the clash with second-placed Clyde, and were eventually outclassed by an impressive home performance.

Falkirk had the better of the early exchanges, and Clyde keeper Bryn Halliwell had to look smart to pick up John O'Neil's dangerous cross from the right wing. Clyde replied with a header by Scott Wilson after an Alex Burns free-kick had been flicked on to him by Simon Mensing.

Falkirk's Russell Latapy was the midfield star man, and set up Craig McPherson whose finish went wide of the upright before he too tried a shot which went narrowly past the post.

Clyde's Graeme Jones was just out of reach with his head when a cross from Ian Harty whizzed across the Falkirk six-yard box, and then Darryl Duffy headed the ball into the net at the other end. Unfortunately for Falkirk, the referee had already awarded a free-kick when Burns had upended Andrew Lawrie before Scott MacKenzie had sent the cross into the area.

Clyde eventually took the lead when Harty's shot deflected off Kevin James on its way past Alan Ferguson.

Clyde could have had a second within minutes when Stuart Balmer powered a shot off the crossbar with Ferguson well beaten. alliwell made a brilliant double save, and Clyde celebrated staying in front by adding a second through a 40-yard free-kick from Gary Bollan.

Clyde put the icing on the cake with the best goal of the match involving Harty, Darren Sheridan and Mensing, who provided the final ball to give Harty the simplest of tap-ins in the middle of the goal.
