MacDonald at the double

Peter MacDonald's double was the difference as Morton prevailed 3-2 in an end-to-end encounter against Falkirk.

MacDonald gave the hosts an early lead with a header from Sean Fitzharris' cross, but Falkirk equalised soon after as David Weatherston volleyed home.

The visitors then shocked the league leaders again as Blair Alston slotted in winger Kallum Higginbotham's through-ball.

Morton responded after half-time when Rhys Bennett was adjudged to have fouled Andrew Jackson in the box, MacDonald powering home the penalty to double his tally and pull his side level.

The hosts then reclaimed the lead moments later as Fitzharris crossed again to find Jackson, who headed high into the net. Morton then saw out the rest of the match with relative ease to remain top of the table.
