Pressley blasts Dons spoilers

"But the biggest frustration for me was the way Aberdeen went about their business after they scored.

"They proceeded to waste time at every opportunity; standing over the ball and kicking it way. It needed the referee to be strong in these situations."

Aberdeen rarely looked like losing the game after Steven MacLean gave them an early lead and they went on to record the win that secures their own SPL status for next season.

St Mirren edged a point above Falkirk after their draw with St Johnstone and the Paisley side are now equal with Kilmarnock, who lost away to Hamilton.

I was disappointed with the result, but not the way we applied ourselves

Falkirk manager Steven Pressley

But Pressley has not changed his belief that his side are good enough to avoid relegation - and will do so.

"It is not about the other teams," he said. "If we take care of our own business, we will survive and I've said it time and again, we will survive.

"We will concentrate on our own performances and our own results.

"I was disappointed with the result, but not the way we applied ourselves.

"We went about our business in the normal fashion. We pressurised them and played very much on the front foot, especially in the second half.

"We defended really well again, we dominated in the midfield area. But the area we have been very good at of late, in the final third, we maybe just missed that little bit of quality and it may have been down to the pitch.

"Because, on a number of occasions when we got into the wide areas, we did not manage to get the quality of cross."

Pressley thought his side should have had a penalty when Ryan Flynn was challenged by Zander Diamond.

And, while he admitted that he might have adopted the same time-wasting tactics as Aberdeen had he been in their position, he thought it was up to the officials to stop them being successful.

"I am just disappointed in the spoiling tactics," said Pressley. "I spoke to the referee on numerous occasions in the first half and he said he would address the matter, but he didn't proceed in doing so and that is what disappointed me.

"We came here to play the right style of game, to win it of course, but I thought that that part of the game was very disappointing.

"It was a penalty, without doubt. Ryan had turned the player, he was on the wrong side and he was brought down."
